Before August Ends…

Hey y’all!

Before this month comes to a close (quite literally it is currently 10:47pm where I am), I just wanted to give a quick check-in.

This month became super busy as my last year as a graduate student commenced. I’m so close to the finish line and yet so far! Every new assignment makes me cry on the inside but getting to make an impact at my internship drives me to keep going.

I’m tired every day despite how much I sleep. But I’m also not sleeping because I stay up until 2am trying to feed my TikTok addiction. Add in a work schedule and school and I basically run on fumes and cold brews. Please send help. Also tell me your favorite coffee drink, I’d like to add more to my list. I’m a cold brew and espresso type of gal.

I’m learning to trust God more than I ever have. Not just with the big things but with the small. I’m learning to speak with authority over myself but also over parts of my day. Just saying, “I am going to have a good day because goodness and mercy follow me” makes a difference.

I recently read Ezekiel 37 and it just blew my mind and revved me up.

If you’re not familiar with the Bible or the Bible chapter, it’s a story of when God tells Ezekiel, a prophet, to prophesy to a stack of dry bones in a field. Ezekiel 37: 4-5 says,

“Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live”

Ezekiel prophesies just that and the bones begin to rattle. They start to connect to one another as muscles, ligaments, tissue and skin forms on them. But they are just there, lifeless bodies, with no breath. Just think about how wild that would be to experience. But then God tells Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath (Ezekiel 37:9). *shouts*

I don’t know what it is about that verse that makes me want to run around. But I think it’s so powerful that God gave Ezekiel the authority to command life to come into a dead thing. God is powerful enough that he could have done it himself but he wanted Ezekiel to do it. Once Ezekiel prophesies to the breath, the bodies come to life as an army. I just want to encourage someone today or tonight, depending on when and where you’re reading this from. That thing you think is dead: that dream, vision, goal, prayer, is waiting for you to speak life into it. God can absolutely do it, He has all the power and authority to do so but sometimes, I think God wants us to flex our faith muscle. He has given us power and authority to prophesy and speak life. God wants us to live and live abundantly. I don’t mean just with money but with joy, love, and peace. You hold the power in your tongue.

I could write on this chapter all night. But I hope that token of encouragement blessed you.

What are you going to speak life into? What is a dream that you may have given up on that needs to hear your voice call to it again? Let me know in the comments.

  1. “God can absolutely do it” literally just spoke to God about how fear, doubt, second guessing keeps stopping me from a lot. That single line “God can absolutely do it” sighhhh 🤍

And let’s go final year woot woot !!

  2. This is so good! It’s also so timely as we’re about to enter the new year in the Hebrew calendar. I also like how that biblical story includes steps. The bones came together, then the skin, and then breath came into it. Sometimes it’s not all at once, but all of it included a command from God and an action then taken by Ezekiel. Praying for guidance on whatever it is God is asking of me! & praying for your strength to increase so you can finish strong ❤️

  3. Thank you for this post! My coffee order is usually a cold brew with oatmilk and sugar free vanilla. Something I’ve given up is songwriting. I don’t feel good enough at times. After this post, it’s time to speak life to that dream.
